Today I am thankful for rain...lots and lots of rain. I am though....looking for the Ark. :)
I am thankful for sweet people who coach me every day to be a better person. I am also thankful that when I am not as good a person as I can be, they laugh both with and at me...keeping this crazy girl in balance.
I am thankful for friends who are co-workers and co-workers who are friends. True friends are hard to come by, and the truest are the ones that are "real" with you. I appreciate the "real" more and more the older I get. Hmmmm...
I am thankful for hot, strong coffee and tuna fish sandwiches. In a world of fancy sandwiches and two dozen combo numbers in the drive thru lane, it is still a plain chicken salad or tuna fish sandwich on plain wheat bread that hits the spot best with me. Yum.
I am thankful for my eyesight. I had quite the scare in early 2010 with both of my eyes, and I am thrilled that those problems have simmered down. :) I am also so incredibly grateful for good eyesight (you really appreciate it after you might lose it) and great "readers" which I am stuck with for the rest of my life. I am also thankful for a great new eye doctor who gets that it is all downhill after 40 and takes the time to sit and laugh with you about it. Laugh or cry I always say. :)
I am thankful for the ongoing opportunities to use my voice and my words to speak to others about passion. It is funny to me that I spend a good deal of time these days speaking to groups about banking and passion...two topics that you don't hear used too much together. Tonight I threw in sexism just to shake it up a bit...plus I was speaking to a group of female bankers. It looked like a bobble head convention in the audience when I told my recent experience with it, and I was saddened to my core....I spun it to the opportunity we have to change our banks and our industry (not to mention the world)....but it disappoints me that we still have such narrow mindedness in the world around us. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to make a difference, and I must forge ahead. WE must forge ahead.
I am thankful for sleep, rest, and I pray for the opportunity to wake up again tomorrow and try again....
I am a work-in-progress. Of this, if nothing else, I am very sure.
